PROFILE | |
Standard Eight was founded in 1998 in the United Kingdom by Alex Sharpe, whose proven track record in high technology environments is reflected in all aspects of the company. This includes an excellent understanding of Information and Operational Systems Security, and Safety and Reliability consultancy, coupled with a first rate ‘human factor’ appreciation. From 1975 until 1998 Alex worked for a major science and engineering company at its various sites around the United Kingdom. During this time, he worked as an Electronics & Systems Engineer, as a PC Support Manager and as a Safety & Reliability Analyst. In 1998, Alex started his own company, Standard Eight Limited, to provide safety consultancy, safety risk analyses and technical writing services. These skills, along with his background in data acquisition and control systems, mean he is ideally placed to undertake security consultancy and security risk analyses of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems. Alex is a Chartered Engineer (IT & Electronics) and a Chartered IT Professional. He has an MSc in Software and Systems Security from the The University of Oxford, and a BSc(Hons) in Control and Instrumentation. He also has the following professional qualifications: |
|
Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (formally the Institute of Electrical Engineers, IEE)
Member of BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT (formally the British Computer Society, BCS)
On reaching retirement age in 2017, Alex took the decision to close the company. He is, however, still happy to consider consultancy work as an individual.
